Meet Christine, Founder of VEROWGDEC

I great you in the name of Jesus Christ. I'm a mother of 5 children and have been married for 32 years. I have a very painful background full of lots of pain and tears. I had my first beautiful daughter at 15 years before I met my husband Robert. At a very young age, I was forced to drop out of school due to finacial struggles and got subjected to child labor for 5 years in Jinja District, Uganda without any intervention of any human rights authorities at that time. I did all sorts of jobs to survive. Each time I reflect, tears outburst from my eyes. Painful, silent pain and torture many young girls and women including boy child face up-to-date in Uganda with little or no voice. I clearly know what it feels like to undergo child labor, drop out of school due to finacial failures and above all have no voice when your rights are being abused.

It is this background that made me to initiate VEROWGDEC (Voice, Rights of women and Girl Child Education Center) as a Non Profit, Community Based Organization (6828) in 2010. It was from this organization that I started looking after 3 total orphans in a 2 roomed house. One day, I slept in prison for 3 days due failure to pay a loan in a struggle to raise food supplies when looking after the 3 total orphans under my custody.

Thank God, my husband Robert has never given up on me. He borrowed some money and got me out from prison. With all the challenges faced, from 2010, we have looked after 368 orphans(Boys and Girls) at Ddembelyabato which is an orphan school under VEROWGDEC. Giving them free housing, medical help, food and education.

As a mother, I greatly belive all children regardless of race, background, gender and health condition deserve love, care and a voice when there rights are abused.

Every Child Deserves a Tomorrow

Give Hope Today, Spread Love

In Uganda, the loss of a parent can shatter a child’s world leaving thousands alone, hungry, and forgotten. However, at Ddembelyabato Orphanage School under VEROWGDEC, a beacon of hope shines through the darkness. 1 in 5 Ugandans live in extreme poverty, and 3.5 million fall below the food poverty line leaving them prone to diseases like HIV/AIDS (5.8% adult prevalence), cholera (11,000 cases/year), typhoid, Malaria, Hepatitis B and measles. It should also be noted that 56% of children lack access to basic needs, and 36% work by the age of 14 thus being forced into child labor while thousands of children in Uganda become orphans after the death of there parents leaving them in gaps of limited accessibility to quality education, clothing and shelter.

Despite of all this, Uganda remains as one of the poorest countries in Africa, with a long history of political turmoil, human rights abuse and economic strife accompanied by periodic influxes of refugees. Within this landscape, Ddembelyabato under VEROWGDEC offers more than relief. It offers transformation through faith, education and shelter to over 82 orphaned children currently.

Ddembelyabato is a Luganda word (Local Language) which means Children's rights. Ddembe is translated as Rights while Bato is translated as Children thus the name Ddembelyabato.

It should be noted that Ddembelyabato is under the umbrella of VEROWGDEC which is a registered Non Profit CBO 6828. This website primarily focuses on Ddembelyabato with a few highlights of VEROWGDEC

Meet Fortunate & Benard

At 4 years, Fortunate & Benard became orphans. They scavenged for food, wore tattered clothes, and attended no school until Ddembelyabato Orphanage School welcomed them into a safe haven of worship, nutritious meals, education, and love. Now, 82 children wake to worship songs, reading the Bible, enjoy nourishing meals, and receive quality education in a faith-filled environment.

“When I held these frightened children in my arms, I vowed that no one in our care would ever feel invisible again.”
Christine Ayesiza, Founder

Foundation

Ddembelyabato orphanage project was built from the core principles of fearing God. The children are raised with the core principles of praising, worshipping and praying to God. We believe that a strong spiritual foundation is essential for the emotional and moral development of the children, guiding them towards a brighter future.

Our Mission

Our mission is to impact the lives of orphaned children (Boys and Girls) primarily through a project-based approach. We aim to provide a nurturing environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive.

Our Impact

Since our establishment, with the help and donations of various groups of people in the society, we have managed to provide a home and education to over 368 orphans. We continue to strive towards making a difference in the lives of orphaned children, ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.
